It was brought up last week: what are your thoughts on the idea of speech being censored? From content producers to crypto news sources to lawmakers on both political sides, we looked at various cases. These persons have all been censored on a major Web2 site in some capacity. While some have a clear understanding of why, others have no idea. This is a terrifying and grave problem, which is why the team decided to create Solcial as a solution.

As good as it is for a platform to oppose censorship and profess to defend free expression, Solcial must be censorship-resistant. We've seen centralized platforms begin with the goal of providing freedom of expression, only to succumb to external forces and compromise their ideals in order to achieve larger market dominance. What does Solcial do to end censorship, exactly? Is it handled by a single entity? A powerful corporation or government might potentially challenge the platform's free speech protections. See what Solcial is doing to not just avoid, but to abolish, censorship in the first place!

Moderation by the end user
Solcial's primary principle in safeguarding users from hazardous material is that users themselves should regulate content and have a role in what needs to be deleted. We can probably all agree that the examples in the preceding blog are not the kinds of stuff that should be prohibited, but across the world, there are other kinds of content that is unlawful and unethical in some form or another.. Obscene, vulgar, or abusive stuff is included here. To reach this delicate balance between censorship resistance and the avoidance of potentially hazardous information, Solcial empowers its users with the ability to censure one other.

By design, Solcial will automatically unpin posts from our IPFS nodes and hide them from the user interface if they have a high enough ratio of reports/views. Solcial will not support anything that its community of users deems removable since it is being designed with the objective of being entirely decentralized and reliant on a P2P network of users to host content. The information may still be pinned to a node and supported by others. Visit our blog if you'd like to learn more about our peer-to-peer (P2P) network. It's a big deal for Solcial, and it's going to be crucial as we go forward.

When it comes to censorship, the team at Solcial believes that this mix of community moderation and P2P solutions is the ideal way to secure the platform from obscene material while still allowing users to express their individuality and independence. We've included an upvote and downvote function to offer people a say in whether or not they want to report stuff they don't like in an attempt to prevent this. This should only be used in extreme cases if the material is plainly indecent.

Is Encryption an Option?
Encryption is the second way we think will assist protect individual liberties while reducing the risk of repression. Despite the fact that we haven't revealed many specifics about this, the development team has been working on encryption models that will assist safeguard users' privacy while also assuring both usability and scalability. Self-censorship may be prevented with this flexibility to post security. As vital as addressing overt censorship is to our users, we must also ensure that their material is secure on Solcial.

Users Will Have Full Control Over Everything Thanks to DAO
Another important part of our censorship-resistant objective is the fact that the platform is administered by its members. A central control system provides for more decisive leadership, but we think it also leads to more authoritarian decision-making. We've seen what can go wrong when one set of individuals is in charge of everything, and we don't want to go down that same road again. As a team, we are dedicated to creating a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) in order to decentralize authority away from the founders and provide it to the platform users. Depending on how the community wishes to go, this will allow for modifications to moderating standards, content organization, and more.

Because we know there's a lot to unpack here, we want you to know we're here to empower your social network experience, not control it. Among the numerous issues that need to be addressed, censorship is just one of many, and we are certain that a more open society will be a better place for it.

There is too much at stake if we don't address our issues with censorship. The rise of online animosity and mistrust in social networks has been blamed on censorship by some. Because of our existing system, a loud crowd may intimidate platforms and stifle diverse views. We want Solcial to become a type of Wikipedia, where the platform is impartial and people are free to express their opinions.

Imagination of a society where censorship is not a set rule We, as users, are powerless in the face of a separation between platforms that will not go away. What do you think about this scenario?

Please take some time to analyze our previous blog and how Solcial intends to address the issue of censorship before you go. For Solcial to attain its full potential, we will need all of you on board and dedicated. We are just as excited as everyone else about the upcoming debut!

Social media's future has the potential to have a profound effect on the course of human history. We've made up our minds, and we're sticking to our guns. Then please join us, and we hope to see you soon on Solcial.

Users of Solcial will be given the power of web3 by being able to engage with each other without fear of censorship, and content producers will be compensated properly at market value.
